Can I request a day / time for practice when registering my child?
Because the field assignments for practices are given to coaches in mid September, which is after the team has been assembled this does not work.
Usually a coach (this applies to house teams only) will meet with his team and pick a day & time time that best suits the majority of the team and him/herself. Our Director of Fields will attempt to facilitate all requests to the best of her/his ability.
Two factors that do not permit the facilitating of this process earlier;
A. The holiday period of August, too many families away on vacation still
B. Field contracts from the Langley Parks office are not given to our association prior to August.
What if certain practice days are not suitable for my son?
This issue is best taken up with the coach of the team or the age group Coordinator. Our coaches dedicate many hours to these players and too many absent players at practice can upset the balance for any team on game day. In some cases, if space permits, a player can be moved to another team and generally this only applies to House Team situations. All Rep team players must comply to the the dates set by the club.
How are your practice locations determined, ie North or South Langley?
House teams are often done geographically and that permits the Director of fields to allocate these teams either North or South depending on the home addresses of the team members. Rep teams usually have players that reside in both locations and then their practice locations are either one day N. Langley and the other day S. Langley. In some cases the central location of Municipal Athletic Park is used for both days.
How many players on field after U10?
In compliance with the developmental guidelines of BC Soccer, U11 (effective 2006/07) will be playing 8 versus 8 on a playing field.U12 this year will continue at the standard 11 aside format but U11 will graduate the 8v8 format again for u12 in the year 2007/08. More information regarding 8v8 is available on www.bcsoccer.net . U13 and up will play 11 aside format.
Do players travel outside Langley at the Youth Level?
Yes, travel can (but not always) include trips to Chilliwack in the East or Squamish in the West. Rep teams can be required to travel to Vancouver Island at the player's expense. Fundraising by teams often supports this extra expense.
Can I request a teammate or team after U10?
Yes, we always take requests for House Players and try to accommodate them as best as possible, especially when registrations are received prior to June 15th.
