Stages of Development - Active for Life

Ages 4+

Objective: A commitment to lifelong physical activity and participation in sport through either 1) personal choice in the early years or 2) through a transition from elite sport. To run in conjunction with and as an alternative to the FUNdamental, Learning to Train, Training to Train, Training to Compete and Training to Win stages of the model.

LUYSA will:

  • Encourage fun, participation and skill development in that order.
  • Encourage participants to move from one sport to another.
  • Encourage competitive soccer players and athletes to transition to recreational soccer.
  • Encourage participants to become involved in volunteering as coaches or administrators or choosing sport-related work such as officiating.

Outside of soccer:

  • Try as many different sport and recreational activities as possible.
  •  Minimum of 60 minutes moderate or 30 minutes intense daily activity for adults.
