Effectively with immediate implementation (September 2009) LUYSA will undergo review of the current player and coach development systems.
This includes training and competition programs, fall, winter and spring programs, mini, house and select programs. The current belief is that there has been some very good work done at LYUSA in regards to all soccer programs. However, there is a lack of consistency in the presence of what is good. LTPD / LTAD is seen as a way to unite and expand the quality programming that is present in LUYSA throughout the entire Club.
Strategic planning sessions are going to commence to discuss LTPD / LTAD and these will be made available to the membership. Along with a review and strategic planning sessions we seek to come up with significant amount of research. A draft LTPD / LTAD model will immediately begin during summer 2009 and will be presented for approval by the LUYSA executive during fall 2009.
This document is an overview of LTPD / LTAD as it relates to the specific needs and requirements of our membership. LTPD / LTAD is an organic concept and while it does need to have some theory nailed down that represents its boundaries and directions, it will continue to evolve and grow with time.
The next five years will see a series of program adjustments and alterations as the Club attempts to align itself with LTPD / LTAD principles and philosophies. The impact will be seen primarily at the introductory/initiation program level (ages 5 to 12). A second three to five year period would see the continued evolution of programs for participants at the intermediate level (ages 13 to 18). Finally, a third three to five year period would see completion of LTPD / LTAD at the senior level of Club programming (ages 19+). Therefore, the implementation of LTPD / LTAD - in a manner that will promote the most gradual change - will take approximately 10 to 15 years.
Change is coming to the Canadian sport system and it is in the form of LTPD / LTAD. LUYSA chooses to become a national and community leader in LTPD / LTAD implementation.
