A unified set of development goals that span the entire Club spectrum and are visible to all administrators, coaches, players and parents.
Placing more emphasis on training and preparation in the introductory and intermediate stages of participant development.
Competition is important and vital for retaining participant interest and in gaining success in the long-term but in the early stages it is a tool to aid participant learning and development therefore the focus over the initial years of involvement is on the development of the individual within the team context (i.e., individual skill development versus team skill development).
Calendar planning with regards to competition will be appropriately challenging - and, for as long as possible, locally accessible - in order to support the desired outcomes of each stage of growth and development for the participants.
Young participants should be encouraged to develop a high level of basic movement skills and participate in a variety of sports before choosing to specialize in soccer or any one sport.
Level of maturation is taken into account when designing programs and participants will be able to move openly through the system in order to find a program that matches their needs.
The opportunity exists for participants to realize their full potential but more importantly to develop a commitment to be active for life.
