     LUYSA is dedicated to the development of its coaches for the league. We have created various development programs for our coaches to enhance their existing team practices and development.

    Coaches can apply to be involved with the LUYSA Coach Mentorship program. Interested participants would become actively involved in dialogue, and apprentice coaching duties with the LUYSA Club Head Coach and Staff Coaches.

    The Mini Recreational Program is based on a smaller version of the “big game” known as “mini soccer”. LUYSA emphasises is on fun and sportsmanship, learning the basic skills, concepts, rules of the game & allowing the player to learn & enjoy their game in a positive, low pressure environment. No standings are kept, no powerhouse teams are kept together year in & out.

    The Referee is in charge of the game.  His/her authority is total and should not be challenged.  If coaches or managers wish to query a decision that was made, do it quietly and politely at the end of a game.  Nothing is gained, and much is lost, when this routine is not used.

    The youth program at LUYSA follows the guidelines set by the BCSA . In compliance with the developmental guidelines of BC Soccer, U11 and U12 play 8 versus 8 on a playing field.Numerous studies have revealed the effectiveness of small sided games in improving young players both technically and tactically.

    U13 and up players follow the conventional 11 aside format and rules set out by the BCSA . Schedule and league information is overseen by BC Soccer Central .
