LUSA Technical Lead - Chelsey Hannesson
Langley United is excited to announce that on the heels of our recent announcement about Nick Soolsma joining the LUSA technical team. We now announce that Chelsey Hannesson has signed a 3-year contract with the club as a Technical Lead working alongside Nick.
Chelsey is currently a staff coach with Richmond Hill Soccer Club in Toronto and will be joining Langley United on the 1st September 2016. Chelsey is a former Langley resident and is returning to the community where she started playing soccer.
Her playing travels has seen her represent the province of BC in the provincial program, and the national training centre program and is a recipient of a gold medal at the Canada Games. Upon graduating from high school Chelsey attended Easter Washington University on a full ride scholarship and was captain of the NCAA Div 1 women’s team for 3 years.
Prior to moving out to Toronto, Chelsey was the senior staff coach with Surrey United and held the responsibility of coaching the BCSPL girl’s intake team. Chelsey holds a National B Licence coaching badge, which is the second highest level achievable in Canada.
Arnout Stams LUSA’s 1st VP said “Having a female coach in the club with such vast experience locally as well as at the collegiate level was an easy decision for us to make. Our girls program is growing at the same rate as our boys program and we needed to ensure that all areas where covered. Chelsey’s enthusiasm and passion for coaching will be a benefit to both our girls and boys programs and her experience from the university level in the NCAA will be one that we will be looking to share with our players”
